Is Samsung Galaxy Note5 going to receive Android 8.0 at any time in the near future? This places a huge role in my life, as I traded my iPhone 7 Plus, a phone only a year older than the Note5, for it, and am now looking at never being able to play mobile Fortnite till I officially upgrade my phone.. this will play a role in my decision in terms of whether to upgrade to an iPhone or a Note in the future, once I am sure of each operating system's capacity to stay in the loop! The Note5 is on par with the newest iPhones, in terms of specs, yet can't play a simple game because of an operating system specification? Perhaps this is an issue to be brought up with Epic Games!

Samsung only officially supports updates up to two years. The Note 5 is out of that window now. That being said, updated versions might exist from other custom ROM sources. The OS requirements for the game are set by the developer, not the phone or OS manufacturer.

Oreo will not allow you to run Fortnight, it's minimum SOC requirement is the SD820 from 2016. I can tell you from experience it shouldn't of even been approved for that, it runs like garbage.

7 plus launched in September 2016, Note 5 is from August 2015, mine received it's last update August 2018. It's over 3 years old and Samsung is done updating it.

Hardware in the Note 5 competes well with an iPhone 6, which means it can't come anywhere near the performance of a new phone whether iPhone or Galaxy.
