Notification Bug?

I am brand new to Android, and I am digging it so far. There is an annoying issue that I'm having tho, and it may be due to my noobness. I have an app that is spammy with notifications, so I unchecked the "Show Notifications" checkbox in the app info screen. Problem is that the notification sound didn't stop. I can't tell you how crazy I went trying to find the source of the tones! My question is, would this be an Android issue, or lazy app devs?

Probably the app. That's how some of the apps make their money with ads. They provide the app for free and then inundate you with those stupid notifications. I'd just delete the app if it's that annoying.
