Recently I've noticed that my text and e-mail notification sounds are the exact same. Has this always been the case or have I been under that rock for too long?

How can I make them different so that I can tell which one I've received other than having one vibrate?

i think it's initially set up to have the same notification sounds.

to change it go into your messaging app and then hit menu, then settings. scroll down....there should be an option like "notification settings" or "select ringtone" ....i'm in an AOSP ROM so I dont exactly remember what the Sense menus are set up like

you can also do the same in the email app as well

hopefully that helps you out :D

Ive tried it the way you've described with no success. The general e mail app that come with the phone doesn't have a sound selection. The general text app has an option. When I make a change with the sound option user settings its one for notifications. It doesn't give the option for text vs e mail.

i thought you were using Gmail....well thats different then...

whatever sound you choose in SETTINGS>>SOUND>>NOTIFICATION SOUND, that gonna be your general notification sound...so if you dont/cant change a sound for anything else...thats the sound you will hear. set that first then change your sound in the messaging app...they should be different now...

your email and missed call sound will sound the same now...just set a one with vibrate and you should know the difference
