Not that I'm aware. Androids of late all seem to be the same. Short of adding a strobe light somehow, it is what it is.

you could always solder a new LED, pretty simple surgery really

Given I wont be doing that, but if it really bothers you it's certainly an option :p

you could donwload NoLED from the market. It makes the screen kinda glow when getting notifications. It was made for samsung phones since they don't have LED lights.

Sorry, you will have to get used to that coming from BB. That "crack" from crackberry (the notification light) is totally different. However, the LED light on the bionic isn't the worst. At least it's fairly visible if you have a message. I had the thunderbolt for awhile and the LED is behind the speaker grill so it wasn't really visible unless you were looking at the phone head on.

I would not go with NoLED if I were you - extra use of the battery aside, NoLED works well on a SAMOLED screen, but I didn't find it nearly as satisfying on a different screen. On the droid charge, for example, NoLED works great because the screen displays the shade black very deeply. It is hard to tell where the bezel ends and the screen begins it is so dark. When you get a notification NoLED works well on that phone because just the part of the screen where the notification icon flashes appears to light up and the rest appears to stay "off". That is not the way it looks on other screens in my experience. On the thunderbolt it was obvious that the whole screen was turning on and off to flash the notification because even though the majority was black, you could tell it was being illuminated.

Slightly smaller notification led than the Droid X but I can't really complain since its only slightly smaller...

My observation: The notification led is good sized and blinks *when the Bionic is off*- possibly not used when in use. Can that be changed? I dunno-I'm a noob at 69 yrs old!

To me the LED light is better than on HTC phones. I prefer the atrix or OG droid one but it is not a deal breaker for me.

Wonder why they even bothered with an LED light if they were go to make it so hard to see. Maybe coming from a BlackBerry I've been spoiled with a good LED.

Re: Notification LED is pathetic....is it possible to make bright

No comparison to the BB models. The only thing I would like is for the led to stay on not blink until I turn the phone on. This blinking every 2-3 seconds sucks. I would also like to see the notification light in use when charging so you know when its done instead of having to guess and hitting the power button to see the battery status.
