Notification light question.

Hi guys I've noticed that the notification light is very inconsistent. Sometimes when I get an email it will flash but other times it won't I've checked the settings and made sure it is activated, also I went through the gmail settings to see if there is an option for that but there isn't. The notification light was one of the selling points for me in this phone. Is it a bug in Jelly Bean or am I doing something wrong? thanks!

Jelly Bean (and ICS even) doesn't have a very good native control of the notification LED. There are some apps that can help, but the best of the bunch is Light Flow.

The unfortunate part about Light Flow is that the Jelly Bean update broke it for most people. The dev is aware of the issues and is working on a fix. I recommend using this app especially after it gets fixed.

Seems like the built in notification light is working fine since Jellybean was installed. The issue is with Microsoft Active Sync with Hotmail. It's not working with Jellbean. Also the Boat Browser is not compatible with JB. So far it's a great upgrade but developers are behind on apps being compatible. We also lost Flash Player.

Light Flow looks awesome, but it has very little support for a lot of common applications.

Wish it supported apps people actually use...

Most importantly GoSMS and Tweetcaster. Pretty much two of the three apps, the other being Gmail, I would primarily want a notification light for.

That's unfortunate (I use Google Voice and Plume for Twitter). He supports something like 5 other SMS clients and several Twitter clients too. Maybe you should email him and ask if he's working on it. I'd be surprised if he isn't trying to make it work with those apps given how many apps he supports notifications for.

He has added apps I use after an email. Voice and others are listed only for the paid version. Check his site. I think the list is on there somewhere of all apos supported

I use Phone Alarm, and so far the light control in it seems to work.

Just goes to show, though how different people use the phone differently. I couldn't care less about tweet/email/facebook/G+ alerts. I want them for missed calls and SMS/MMS :-)
