There are some apps that supposedly surround the selfie opening with an illuminated circle of the color you choose to remind of notification.

Do these apps work on s22 Ultra?

I don't have mine yet on which to try. Download and see if it works? It uses the screen, so don't know why it wouldn't. Any software tweaks if needed will probably come soon.

Does it work on lockscreen always on?

The AOD indication around the camera is displaying odd on my S22U. it seems to be oval instead of round. I've used AOD on my Note 8, 10+ and never seen this behavior.

AODNotify requires far too many invasive permissions for my taste. The show stoppers are the ability to read all text in all messages and emails, and the ability to fully control my phone. Why are these permissions even necessary?

It's too bad no safe app has been found to imitate the led light I've been fond of since the OG Droid.

I miss the led on note 9
I still see it when I'm in bed since the 9 has been demoted to bedstand wifi phone.

Still no safe led imitator app?

Apparently not. The problem is that any LED emulation is going to rely on the screen brightness - and in AOD mode, that can be pretty dim. There will never be any such emulation that will match the attention grabbing brightness of what a dedicated LED would offer.

I tried AODNotify, but never liked how dim it was. Instead, I just live with the standard notifications that show up on the AOD screen. It shows which apps have notifications waiting with colored icons for the notifying app. I decided that is good enough. I also use Glimpse Notification app which briefly turns the full lock screen on to show any new notification for several seconds.

All of that pretty much replaced the function of the LED for me.
