Is there a way to make notifications appear only on the second screen, disabling them in the generic Notification area?

You mean you don't want them on the lock screen? Or any screen?

There are certain ones that would be more useful if they were just on the second screen, instead of the shade, where they have to be dismissed.

What device have you got and what software? In marshmallow you can individually control notifications in an app by app basis....

I have a V10 with Marshmellow, but when I set an app to block, it doesn't show up on the "second screen" either.
