Notification sounds over Bluetooth

I'm hoping someone here can help me. I use Google Play Music from my phone over Wi-Fi to listen to music in my car. Since I started using my Galaxy S6 my notification sounds get played over my car stereo. It interiors my music and I find it annoying. This did not happen on my previous phone. I can't find a setting to turn this off. I hope I'm just missing it. Thanks in advance.

What if your phone is on silent, shouldn't it play the music but not the notifications? Or you hit the volume button, and hit the settings button next to the volume, and it should let you turn the ring tones down to silent or vibrate, as well as lower system sounds while keeping the media sound up. That is my only other thought, hope that even made sense for you haha

Same here. I have SBH80 BT headset and notifications are played over BT and on the phone.

This has bedeviled me since day one with the S6. Is it impossible to get the alert sound to play layered atop media?
