Notification Sounds Play While on Phone Call

While I am on a call and an email, text or any program with a notification sound applied on my phone loads, the notification sound plays loud. Is there a way this can be turned off while on a call? Is becoming very annoying! My 4G Touch didn't do that. Thanks.

Try this:
Open the phone app, then press the menu key

Touch "Call Settings"

Touch "Call alert"

Uncheck the box for "Alerts on call"

I cant get my note 2 to play the message alert during a call how do I fix this or is this just how the phone is

Thanks so much for this- I was stuck looking in notifications and all over the place and could not find it. I knew there had to be a box to check or uncheck somewhere!

You have noises how much you changed my life... I have gone through my last 4 Samsung phones w/ notifications vibrate only because I couldn't stand when I was on a call and my phone would ring in my ear. I even went into AT&T stores and they had no idea what I was talking about. Thank you so much! I can finally have notifications w/ sound again!
