Notification sounds stop working...

Hi! I'm not sure if this is an Android issue or just a Pixel issue. Occasionally, all my notification sounds for Messages, Instagram, Messenger, etc will just stop working? I can't figure out what's causing it, but I've tried clearing the cache and restarting Messages which doesn't work. The only way to fix it is to restart the phone itself. Does this happen to any of you?

Do Not Disturb isn't turned on, or scheduled to turn on, right? Do you have any connected wearables like a watch, or is it synced to a Chromebook for notifications?

Nope, none of those either. I've tried cycling through vibrate, DND, and that doesn't work either.

You still get pop up messages just not sound ?

Try clear cache and force stop each of those apps

I can't remember if I just force stopped Messages or cleared the cache too. There's no way to delete texts by clearing the cache, right?

I don't have any ideas or suggestions other than what has already been posted. I just wanted to post that I have not seen this on my Pixel 4XL.

Maybe an app that has access to media and volume controls is going haywire periodically causing sound to stop?

Like Scott said it could be an app, they can do some really weird things sometimes. Do you have any Bluetooth devices paired to your phone that might be interfering and silencing some of your sounds?

I've had this issue intermittently for a couple weeks now and this is the first thread I've come across to have the same issue. I've turned on/off: "Flip to Sshh", vibrate, DND, etc. And I've force stopped and cleared the cache as well.

If I find a solution I'll make sure to come back to post it, and I'll return to see if you've done the same.

I'm having a similar issue, I'm getting text notifications, but no sound.
Did you figure out anything? I see this is pretty old. But I can hope.

Welcome to Android Central! Just to be sure -- when you get a notification without sound, look at the status bar. Do you see a Do Not Disturb icon there? On my Pixel 6 Pro, there have been a couple of instances where the phone thought I was driving for some reason, which switches on Driving Mode and Do Not Disturb.
