Notifications don't wake up screen

I cannot for the life of me figure out why whenever I get notifications, and it doesn't matter which ones, the screen does not wake up. Can anyone help me find the setting I've looked and cannot find the setting. My Pixel 5a works beautifully whenever I would get a message or any notification the screen would wake for a few seconds. Thank you again. You guys are wealth of knowledge and I truly appreciate it help.

EDIT: wake screen for notifications found! Now, is there a way to specify which apps I want the screen to wake up for?

Under lock screen settings you can't adjust which will wake the screen but if you go setting>apps>3 Dots upper right corner tap>special access at the bottom tap turn screen on and toggle which ones u want

This is what I need because I can specify which apps will wake the screen on and not, let me ask you this with the phone in the pocket or purse it should not wake up regardless because of that automatic detection not to wake up when in the dark spot correct?
