Notifications During a Call

I currently have the T-Mobile version of the S5. I have notifications turned on for when I am in call. The problem seems to be though that when someone texts me when I am on a call it plays the normal text message tone. This is extremely annoying as you have to go view the text and it interferes hearing what the person is saying if you dont. Before I switched to T-Mobile I was on Verizon and all Id get is a beep if I was on a call. Is there any way to make it just have a beep or am I just going to have to turn the feature off because for some reason its different on this carrier?

To turn mine off (T-Mobile) I go to settings - sound - call - call alerts - notify during calls.

not sure why yours gives you the normal tone though... when mine is on, it just gives me a single beep/vibrate. sorry!

You should be able to choose the actual notification tone.

I did, I changed it from a beep to a chirping bird...... the opposite of what you want.


but, I have tinnitus and it takes a lot of noise to get my attention.

I think I stumbled onto the answer while trying to fix my Voice Mail autoDial which Verizon destroyed during the 4.4.4 upgrade puck u VZW


Bring up your dialer,

hit the 3 dots,

hit "Call related pop-ups"

uncheck all those things.

too late at night to play with it now, but hey, it can't hurt to try it.


Now, down lower on the page it says "Call Alerts"

uncheck the one that says "Notify during calls"
