This is driving me INSANE. On my Note Edge I was able to look at my lock screen and see who texted me without the message being displayed.This also transitioned over to if you unlocked the phone. The only way to see the contents of the message was to click on it once it was unlocked.

The problem- It appears it's either one extreme or the other. I can have the name show up on the lock screen along with the contents of the message OR the message icon shows up, no name and no contents. I checked text settings and lock screen settings under Privacy/Security and can NOT find this setting....

Lol no worries. Between these two settings, I should be able to have a text pop up with the name of who it is from but without seeing the contents or preview of the message. Either the malfunction is me or something isn't working right.

Yeah I know what you talking about now and it not you lol. I can't find that option either. Hopefully someone here finds it and let's us know.

have you checked the app itself to make sure there aren't conflicting settings? just a thought.

It's dependent on the app itself. If you go to App Info > Notifications > on lock screen for Facebook messenger, selecting to hide content will display the contact name but no message. Textra also has similar settings, in-app.

It appears that the apps version of "hide content" is to block the name also.

I'm pretty much convinced the option is no longer there. This is all 3 separate settings. It appears that "block content" also blocks the name.

Lol it's fine. As I said, I was use to my Note Edge and how it would show you the name but not the message itself. On this phone it seems to be all or nothing.
