notifications setup

I have a problem with my notifications.
for example:
when I get an email (I use K-9) I get a notification in the bar. When I go directly into the email app (without opening the notification bar) and read the mail, I would like the notification to dissappear from the bar, without having to go to the notifications bar & clear it form there again.
Is there a way to set this up?

While K9 is really great, it won't clear the notification bar always as the OEM Email app does. I recommend you leave this as a bug report on the K9 dev site. They are incredibly responsive to issues such as this.
