Notifications through headset or external speaker?

Looking for a way to have both my phone ringer and other notifications to come through my external speaker or headphones. I've gone through my settings but cannot find a way to make this happen. Media will work just fine. I have a friend with a Thunderbolt and he can get phone ringer and notifications through his external speaker. Am I missing something here or is the Dinc2 just not capable of this? I can't use a Bluetooth device because of interference and other conflicts.
