Question Notify numbers on home screen icons

On the icons for apps on the home screen I used to see little numbers to tell me that there had been new activity . For example, when I receive a new text, or when there is a new youtube for me. I no longer get those icon numbers, but I do get actual Notifies as normal. How do I turn on the missing "feature"?

That's for the separate Bubbles that can show up on the homescreen for a particular message conversation. The OP is asking about unread notification counts on homescreen icons.

Ah
