Nova launcher aggressive desktop

Is this option necessary for something like the note 4? I keep it checked and have no problems.

I have mine checked on my S5 and use to on my old S4 that I no longer own, but haven't noticed any difference. I would say it's not necessary, but if you want to keep it you can, this option of course reduces redraws. You may not find any difference since you have a top notch high end phone.

It shouldn't be necessary in a phone like the Note 4. Have you noticed redraws with the aggressive desktop switch off?

I noticed a big difference with my old Moto G 2013 (1gb). I think the Note 4 comes with 3gb of RAM so that's enough. But as Josiah said, keep it on if you want. It won't hurt and could help with those occasional redraws, specially if you use Chrome a lot.

Yes I do use Chrome as my default browser, but I don't see any noticible performance issues from doing so.

You probably won't notice any performance issues since the beast has 3GB of ram so therefore aggressive desktop is not necessary.

But I'm on 5.0.1 right now, and I'm lucky if I can get more than a few apps to stay in RAM, would having this option checked have anything to do with this? I checked the application manager and there's a service called "Nova launcher" that only takes a few hundred megabytes of RAM

Hmm, are you using heavy, battery consuming apps/games? With that much memory you shouldn't have that problem, but checking aggressive desktop does actually add an extra service, but I'm not 100% if it has anything to do with apps not staying in RAM.

I actually don't have any games on my phone at the moment, just your usual everyday apps (Facebook, Instagram, snapchat, flipboard, etc...)

I just checked and the aggressive desktop option adds just 56mb in my running apps list. Of course, that number could be different depending on how heavy your launcher setup is.

With those apps listed Non really take up massive RAM (except Facebook) sometimes Facebook can have its days where it wants to kill your battery but besides Facebook, I'm not seeing a problem.

I have other apps beside the ones I mentioned that I use on a daily basis, but none that are resource hogs
