Nova Launcher live Google Calendar icon EMUI 8.0

On my Mate 10 Pro, my default launcher is Nova (Prime fwiw).

Is there any way to have the Google Calendar launcher icon automatically update to the current date? It's permanently stuck on 31. No icon packs etc., just the standard icon.

I know it should work as it did on my previous phone.
