Now a Popularity Contest?

I'm a tiny bit dismayed. I've entered into the contest for the HTC One developer version, but I feel like it's become more of a popularity contest now, rather than a contest to see who has the best reason to receive the phone. In a perfect world, people would look through the videos and vote for their favorites, but what I see actually happening is most people not being willing to look through 200+ entries. The applicants will simply be getting as many of their friends to vote for their video. Although that's not inherently bad, it means that my entry which I spent 10+ hours working on will now have to compete with 200+ entries (most of which took all of 30 seconds to post) on the basis of how many friends the applicant can get to vote.
Admittedly, getting people to vote for your entry could show how dedicated you are to winning this contest, but then there's also the fact that it doesn't take longer than 5 minutes to spam everyone on your contacts list.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not griping/complaining because I'm worried that I'll lose, I fully intend to work around the clock between now and Monday to get people to vote for me. I just feel like the contest should have played out differently. Perhaps the Android Central team should have gone through and hand picked the top 10 videos to be voted on, or maybe the final winner should be determined by a combination of the Android Central team's score of the video entry and the amount of votes the entry received.
Anyways, thanks for reading, feel free to check out my entry at this link.

On a happier side note: Google Fiber is coming to my town of Provo! (Had to get that out of my system :D )
