Now I have a lock screen

As I reported in another thread, I now have a pocket computer that will make phone calls. Horton, the manufacturer, calls it a pocket box.

When I got my Horton Pocket Box I set it up so I didn't have a lock screen. I have no information on it so a lock screen is another step that I don't want to deal with. Everything was fine.

I get a notification that there's a software update and I foolishly tapped OK. My wallpaper changed, my icons changed, and now I have a lock screen. No passcodes, just a screen that I need to get past before I can make a phone call.

I dug through all the settings and could not find a way to get rid of that screen. It's Android 12. Anyone know of a way to get rid of that lock screen?

I hesitate to search 'Horton Pocket Box' on a work-related device...
and upon doing so on a personal device I'm glad I didn't...

OK, now I have to look it up...

EDIT: A few odd results but nothing untoward... Mostly matresses. I'm a bit dissapointed lol. Also nothing related to the product in question.

I take this thread as an attempt of sarcasm. If so, buy the new iHorton Pocket Box BS 8s and all your problems will be solved, not.

If you are really having a problem with your device let us know which one it is an we'll try to help you out.

The video is sarcasm, the problem is real. I like the video because it mirrors my feelings toward pocket computers.

OnePlus Nord N200 5G is the phone. Latest update to Android 12 forced me to have a lock screen which doesn't lock anything.

I don't have a OnePlus device running A12 at hand so I'm not sure what's changed in that section. Do you mean that they don't include the 'None' option in the lock screen settings anymore? Could you take a screenshot of that screen in the settings?

I wonder if it could be related to the AoD feature. I'll ask around.

By the way. Android 12 came with many changes in every brand and they are even bigger in OnePlus devices. With A12 they started to merge Oxygen OS (the international skin) with ColorOS (the skin used in sister brands like OPPO and Realme). This integration was announced well in advance and many users decided to stay in Android 11 to avoid changes that they don't like. Or they "downgraded" to Android 11.

OnePlus is quite good letting you to "rollback" to previous Android versions. The usual paths are using rollback packages, that you can find in OnePlus forum, or msmtool (an excellent tool to move between versions or unbrick your device). This is only available for the international/unlocked models and if you have a carrier one things can complicate a bit.

It's very unusual not using any kind of lock screen, specially after most devices come with a quick and reliable FPS. I follow different forums and chats about OnePlus devices and I can't find anyone that is in your situation or reported that issue. I'd recommend you to join OnePlus Community (available from your settings) and ask directly to support.

Users of other OnePlus devices running A12 confirmed that the 'None' option is not longer available. I think you have three options:

- Set a fingerprint and select Pick up to wake to make things easier.

- Set the longest time to lock and play around with the Smart Lock options.

- Rollback to A11.

Welcome to OxygenOS 12. Sorry.

I would note that a big potential risk of not having any lockscreen at all is the phone screen unlocking in your pocket unbeknownst to you. This can lead to many inadvertent screen touches, which can cause unwanted messages or calls to be sent, unwanted apps to open, etc. A simple lockscreen that requires the user to swipe up can prevent that.
