I know a lot of people on other forums have been holding off on buying phones until the Pixel was announced - now that it's here, are you buying one, or are you buying something else?

Most likely but I'm not sure what. If the HTC 10 was £100 cheaper I'd have already bought it.

The one plus 3 is then top of my list but after sales support and updates are the 2 major things holding me back

Then there's the Moto Z play. By review it looks a solid device. OIS missing, which is the biggest downside to me. I also question the shelf life of the mods. Moto will more than likely change the design on their next release rendering the mods useless at upgrade time (granted the add value to resale).

Any other recommendations?

I will be buying one for sure, that's if I don't win one (which seems unlikely with how many people have entered.)

I think for everything that comes with owning a pixel, every penny will be worth it.

Well I have an S7 Active and a Note 7 so I wasn't going to literally go out and get one when released but I was looking at the possibility of what could be my next device if and when I moved away from either of my 2 current phones. After seeing the reveal I can say I won't be selling any of my phones to get a Pixel. My next phone will likely be an S8 or if I go off the beaten path maybe a Huawei Mate 9 or the like.

All my last phones were nexus (Galaxy, 4, 5, 5X). With the exception of the Z5 Compact (a 500€-6000€ msrps with a horrible camera and slow updates, that forced me to come back to the nexus and went for the 5X for €300).

However, now that the Google phone (Pixel) is so expensive (and still has 24 months of updates) I'm considering the iPhone 7 (It would be my first iPhone and I still need to be convinced).

My situation: There are mainly 2-3 things I don't like in the 5X. The Free RAM, 2GB is little for 64-bit Android and my personal usage. The compass, which is terrible I need to calibrate everyday (all my previous Nexus had a similar issue with the compass).
Also the performance sometimes is not the best, but this is also because of the RAM, 5X is constantly redrawing apps.

So my options are:

A) Stay with the 5X until the Pixel 32GB price decrease to 450€-500€ (in Amazon, etc).
B) Stay with the 5X until I decide to go for an iPhone 7 (or maybe buy a used iPhone 7). I don't think the iPhone price will change in the next 6 months.

The problem with the iPhone is that I'd use it with just google apps (no icloud at all) and I don't know how that could work....Google invest a lot of time doing Google Apps for iOS so maybe I can still be a Google user with a non-Google phone.

Honor 8. Suggested price $399. Have one and it is great, good for your vision and your desire for capability. USA version supports GSM networks. Take a look.

Already bought my Pixel XL 128 GB Black.

That was quick! :)

I struggled to see exactly who the Pixel was targeted at - it looks a great phone, and I'm loving the software but I think maybe I've spent too long buying phones based on their hardware to appreciate the full value of the software.

I quite like Google Now and the Google Assistant looks like a good way for me to use that sort of service much more though!

I'm probably not buying them, to big chins, they kinsa look ugly... Not a lot of info on battery ... My s7 does great with the camera and just android 7 is not enough to jump ship

I watched the livestream announcement yesterday and IMMEDIATELY ran out and bought a Moto Z Play. It has everything I want at half the price!

Haha yeah it seems there have been a few people ready to pull the trigger on a different phone just waiting to get this announcement out of the way before they were sure!

I'm still using a Moto Nexus 6, which still has not updated to Nougat. Would love to upgrade, but I feel the Pixel is way too expensive. Was thinking about a Nexus 5X 32GB via Fi for $249. Am wondering when or if Fi will ever sell the Pixel for the same price, $249. I'm holding off for now.

If it wasn't for the Note recall I would be strongly considering it. But because I don't have an ETA on being able to do things like, take my phone and use it on a flight I am sheepish on making a move like that.

There is a part of me that is thinking about the iPhone 7 Plus though. OIS cameras (I believe its on both) the hardware is actually impressive and apple is doing a better job at bringing its services to Canada *cough Android Pay* I don't think I will actually do it, but it is tempting which is something I've never said since I got my Nexus One.

I wish it was more affordable, but for the price I think it is worth it. I would just get the 32 GB, since you can upload full resolution pictures on the cloud for free that would be all I would need.

Maybe in a few months I will buy it. Love the BLUE!!!

I'm kinda leaning toward the HTC10 right now, but I need to do the research in reviews and videos. Does anyone know if I can showroom-shop one at a BestBuy or possibly a carrier store?

The main deal breaker for me was that Google wants to treat the Pixel like an iPhone, but they're not willing to support it like on. The iPhone 5 (non-S) -- for example -- received iOS10 (and it works quite well). I'm not going to pay for the equivalent of an iPhone and have the major software be obsolete after 2 years.
