Hey

I am still wondering why does not google offer this feature

Before 4.2, some people would say it is not accurate or not needed. Guess what, they put it in the new notification pull down. That is good but not good enough.

If some do not need it, others do. I am tired of having to download apps from the market to give me some features the OS should provide. I have deleted two apps after the last update to the stock clock app. I honestly love that. I hope google would provide the battery percentage in the status bar so I can delete the battery widget apps I have in my phone

What do you guys think?

I have this on my Galaxy SIII without having to install any extra app. Don't know if it's Samsung's doing, or if it is in Jelly Bean.

Yes. The stock android 4.2 does not have that
I feel where your coming from. First thing we always have to do with any custom ROMs is pull out the stock Google battery images and associated files and replace them with a true 1% battery meter (mod). In the past it was always another reason to root your device just to get a true battery meter.

I still can't believe this far along in Android they haven't adopted this.

Thanks Paul. It is a very small but useful feature that should have been implemented long time ago.

This raises a lot of questions in my mind, and I am afraid that this is somehow related to Apple's patents. Otherwise, I cannot think of any other reason why it is not there.

I hope we will see it in the stock version soon.

Me to because the stock meter isn't worth a darn.

Are there any apps that give the percentage in the status bar and NOT IN THE NOTIFICATION BAR? I'm super OCD and don't like the look of the notification bar battery stuff.

To get this in Android 4.0+, you need to check a mark in the battery setting at the top. It is not well visible when turned off :-\

This feature isn't available on HTC One M7 which is a bummer because the battery on the stock status bar sucks..I have to pull down the notification bar to see the percentage.

All the apps and widgets place a line in the pull down bar as well. How hard can it be to get a % up top without yet another entry in the pull down bar. It's crazy!

On mine it is in the Power Saver options. Pull down on the home screen, then touch "Power Saver" .... from there touch "Battery Percentage - Display battery percentage on indicator." That will change the battery icon to an actual numerical percentage.
