My son grew up on an Ipad 4 and really utilizes it for YouTube, games, ABC Mouse, etc.

He really loves his Ipad but his maxed out storage coupled with an aging processor is starting to sllloowww down the UI. It seems to get a bit more buggy with every update.

My wife and I both own android devices (Note 5/ Pixel XL) and I want to get the fam in the same ecosystem.

I like the idea of adoptable storage with the 6.0 update but I am a little concerned in other areas.

It seems the CPU+GPU combo still hold up pretty well in synthetic benchmark scores but I am not sure how much better UI fluidity is over the Galaxy Tab A 10.1

Having owned several Samsung devices I know TW can weigh the experience down but its hard to judge from YouTube reviews..

NVIDIA ST K1 Pros:
- CPU
- GPU
- Front Facing Speakers
- Gaming Add ons
- Close to Stock Android

Cons:
- Smaller Screen
- Build Quality (?)
- Micro USB placement (?)
- Power Button

Tab A 10.1 Pros
- Larger Screen
- S Pen
- Bigger Battery

Cons:
- TW

any opinions one way or the other?

If you have a Sheild Tablet K1 now how fluid does the UI run? Is it Janky?

I have the Shield Tablet, but the original, not the K1. It's the only non Pixel tablet that anyone should be buying IMO until something better is released. Great battery life, best performance of any budget tablet, priced well under it's quality level.

I had the samsung tab A. It has a larger screen, but the body is not thin--its rather large and bulky. It does not feel like a premium device at all. And the microusb connector is on the top. The S-pen is good, but thats it. Only 16 gig on board storage. The k1 is a better overall tablet, but think about what is more important--size, pen or game playing. I don't think anything cpu intensive will be good on the tab A tablet.

For $299 the new asus s3 z10 tablet is pretty good balance between the two...might consider that..it is a usb c with quickcharge 3.0 though..
