Nvidia Shield + 128Gb MicroSD - Can/Should I use as internal storage?

I've had my Shield K1 for a while but have always had to combat the measly 16GB internal memory limitation. On a whim (black Friday) I bought a 128GB off Amazon for super cheap.

Can I/Should I use that as internal memory so that I'm not always running out of space?

This is mainly for apps as I really don't take pictures or download music.

Will this keep me from using the memory card in another tablet/phone in the future?
