nyone getting a Connect USB data cable message trying to install Gingerbread?

I'm getting a message when when the update runs (after downloading via OTA) to connect USB data cable after the phone reboots. I can batter pull, then it reboots into the old os, shuts itself down to install the upgrade, then gives me the message again. Connecting to my PC does nothing. Any ideas?
