Obnoxious phone issues, help?

Hello there!

I currently have the Galaxy s7, and was hoping that someone could help with some issues I've been having with it recently.

For starters, the audio turns itself up and down without me touching it. I've checked behind the phone case to see if anything had gotten stuck near the audio buttons, but to no avail.

The Google Assistant. Alright, so I have the Assistant disabled currently, but the notification "Your Google Assistant is ready to help you get things done." pops up on the screen nearly every time I'm on the phone. It gets pretty annoying.

Videos pausing/closing out by themselves. Occasionally when I'm trying to watch YouTube or videos off of Google, the apps will close out of themselves or pause themselves. This one isn't as obnoxious as the others, but any help is appreciated.

Welcome to Android Central! Does this only happen when you have headphones plugged in?

When you say you have Google Assistant disabled, how did you do that?

Yeah, seems like it. I have headphones on most of the time when I use the phone.

Chances are that the headphones you're using aren't entirely compatible with the phone. What brand/model are the headphones? Check the packaging -- if it says "Made for iPhone," that can lead to issues like this, since iPhone headphone jacks are configured slightly differently compared with most Android devices. The contact rings on the headphone jack therefore might be accidentally activating the remote control contacts in the headphone jack, thus making the phone think you're trying to adjust the volume or pausing/playing.

As for Google Assistant, have you already tried setting it up? Try re-enabling it, setting it up, then disabling it again. If you never set it up, that fact might be what's triggering that notification. Once you've set it up, maybe that will stop.
