I've been rooting and switching ROMS for the past few months, off and on, and i keep seeing people talking about using these OC Kernels, but have not seen anything on how to install them, or what exactly they even do. Like if you install one, is it just via update.zip, and does that automatically give you the OC without needing SetCpu? Just wondering if someone could point me to an actual explanation of what they do, and how they are used. Why some work with some roms, and others don't, and what the big difference in the voltages are. Thank you.

Well there are a few ways to install kernals. You can manually do it by downloading the file and installing it via recovery or you can do it through rom manager app. In most cases you need setcpu to enable it otherwise the overclock is not functional. There are certain Tom's that have the kernal already installed when you install the rom, I think Pete's bb dos this. Setcpu is good to have no matter what so that you can manage it and avoid overheating.
