Occasional lag

Coming from 6S Plus, I have to say one thing about my new Verizon Note 7 - it is nowhere near as smooth as the iPhone. There will be times when everything is snappy, then 5 seconds later it hiccups. Momentary jerk in scrolling, or slow app load, or not loading pictures, etc. Is this basically to be expected with Android, or am I missing something?

I'm enjoying the phone otherwise, have Nova running and I have spent few hours arranging everything I want. But playing with both phones next to each other, the lag can be quite apparent.

It's more of a Samsung thing. It's the price you pay for having so many features imo.

I had tha earlier but it's cleared up on it's own.

Check your settings I Shut off several sensor things they had on by default

Nope. Not missing anything. Price you pay for all the stuff you get with Android. And as former iPhone user myself you will learn to accept it. If not, buh-bye.

Be nice. Not everyone has had android before. It annoys me too and it's why I've gone back. I keep trying all these new phones from reviews that claim they're better than an iphone, but haven't found any to my liking. The note 4 came close so I'm hoping the note 7 will finalize that.

My understanding is that phones like the HTC 10 and the Nexus phones don't have that lag. I don't know if it is true or not because I don't normally care too much about how smooth my scrolling is.

Not sure why, but it seems like it takes a day or two for an android phone to settle in. It usually gets smoother after that. Battery life improves after a couple days too.

+1. At the end of the day are you happy with your phone? Without comparing it to another phone? If so, drive on. If not, return it. I have a iPhone 6s plus for work and I promise you there is lag in that phone. Maybe not same exact programs but definitely lag.

I don't have the 10, but I had the M9. I think it feels much more snappy because there are fewer animations than what Samsung uses with TouchWiz.

I haven't noticed much lag with my Note 7 yet. I do have a weird stutter that happens when I unlock. The animation isn't all that smooth. It's a little jerky.

I've been adding apps one at a time to make sure if there's anything that will cause issues, I catch it. The phone is amazing, but I'm coming from a Note 4 which I'm typing this on because I still haven't put tapatalk on the new phone.

Ok, thanks guys, I'll give it a few days to settle down. I've turned everything that I don't use off.

It's also pushing more pixels than the iPhone has too which I suspect slows it down some. Honestly I think it is just a touch wiz issue. My 6p is sooooo smooth but man my new note 7 is sexy enough to have a little lag here and there :)

Coming from a Nexus 6p, I assure you, Nexus phones can lag. Lol.

Samsung phones in general tend to hiccup more than other Android phones. A lot of it is not exactly lag, but the animations will stutter. Not sure why sammy hasn't figured out how to remedy this yet.

But yes, you will see actual lag on a Samsung phone from time to time (the dialer app has lagged on a cold start since the beginning of time lol.) I've seen a friend use an iPhone 5 and thought to myself that it seems more fluid than my s7 edge. Imo, a few stutters and lags here and there are a worthwhile trade for all the extra things I can do on my phone that I couldn't on an iPhone.
