Hey everyone I'm very new to rooting and flashing, but I think I'm starting to get the hang of everything.i just had a couple questions about overclocking, I've read in a couple forums that overclocking is dangerous and could freeze your phone eventually. I live running fully overclocked, the phone runs so much faster and smoother. Way better than stock for sure. I just don't want to keep running overclocked and break my phone. Is it as dangerous as everyone says it is? And another thing about vaelpak. Definitely the coolest rom I've tried out since I've been rooted. I'm just looking for advice on tweaking things to make my phone run a little faster and maybe save some battery. But I've been playing around with settings and can't seem to find anything about about an fps cap. Sort if these questions seemstupid.i just don't really know what I'm doing yet. Any input would be cool.

Thanks slot everyone.

As far as overclocking goes, I'm almost 100% sure that it won't screw up your phone unless you allow it to run too hot for too long of a time. But with SetCPU, you can set it so that if it reaches a certain temperature or higher, it will throttle the CPU back down.

As far as the FPS 'fix', that depends on the kernel you flash. If you flashed the VaelPak ROM already, you may have flashed the correct kernel already. The Kings BFS8 Kernel is one of the kernels with the FPS fix, and there's actually a #9 out now, which I just flashed today, and is working flawlessly so far with VaelPak.

Hope that helps with some of your questions.

The only thing id caution you about with OC'ing is it appears some EVO's can go as high as 1.25 GHz without having issues while others can go to 1.15 GHz. My EVO is one that can only go to 1.15 GHz while SprintGirls EVO running the same ROM, using the same kernel can go to 1.25 GHz.

What i would say to you is you can experiment using setcpu to see how high your EVO can go before it locks up but whatever you do ... until you find that magic number, DO NOT check mark the "set on boot" box in SetCPU. If you do and your phone locks up because it's clocked too high, you can pull the battery and reboot but the settings get applied again and you'll lock up again.

Other then that just have fun and see what works for you. Nobody likes their EVO the exact same as anyone else's. I personally UC down to 537 MHz because i use my phone to text, talk, email, browse .... basic core smartphone functionality. I don't play any games or do anything thats going to require my phone to scale that high.
