Do you have have to use a custom kernal to Overclock? I used to overclock extensively with my Palm pre, so I know the basics of it.. But this is my first attempt at a Android.

If your using Stock Sense then yes, you'll need a custom kernel to OC. Some ROMs have a oc'd kernel built in, just depends on what ROM your using.

I want to overclock, but have no desire to change my interface. Basically I want to customize speed, but am content with stock HTC interface.

Do you have a kernal recommendation?

Rooted successfully and applied Kernal in Kernal Manager lite... Used X99Kernal...

Its rebooting over and over... Oh boy.

Did you make a nandroid before you flashed the kernel?

If you didn't (which you always should have one) go into bootloader and manually flash the kernel

How do I manually flash it... I was under the impression this Kernal worked without a Mod? Which option in the loader... currently in now.

I'm assuming you downloaded the x99kernel that was made for sense and not AOSP. To flash it manually go into bootloader. Turn off your device, then hold the power button and the volume down button at the same time. Once your into bootloader wait for a series of script to load the you'll see the option to go into recovery. Scroll down to recovery by using the volume button and power to select. Then go to install from sd option, locate the kernel you downloaded and apply.

I get an Icon of a phone with red warning triangle with Exclamation mark on it.

Do I need to use a flasher on my PC?

Pull the battery and see what happens. Sounds like you didn't flash recovery..

So is there anything I can do with the PC, or is this Bricked...

It sucks since the whole rooting went smooth... I must have just selected the wrong kernal... the phone just loops now and if I do recovery it just has a phone icon with warning triangle over it.

Yeah if your not able to get into recovery then you never flashed it, which may be why your bootlooping. I'm not hundred percent sure what do do from here but I think your phone can be recovered. You may be able to push the files for recovery using adb. I'll be around my pc in a few, I'll see what I can find

Ok from what I understand the your recovery can be flashed using fastboot but I don't have enough knowledge on this to get you through the process. Unless someone else with a little more know how here chimes in, I would suggest starting a thread over on xda in the Evo Shift forum. There are a lot of knowledgeable people over there and that may be the best place to ask how to recover you phone.

Going to give that a roll... Might see if I get a reply from the XDA forum on this.

Even though I hit the Factory reset option I dont think it worked. Going to see if anyone knows how I can just flash a new Kernal to it.
