Just an FYI, I just received a notification for a security update, and after installation my phone is now running the October 1st security patch. VZW

Good job Samsung and Verizon.

I received one on my s8 plus any idea what's in it or maybe, just a security update?

The unlocked updates usually follow shortly after the carrier updates. Not a huge deal.
Based on history, it can be months, especially with major updates. Just not something I'm willing to deal with as they're already slow with updates. That's a bigger deal to some than others. All Verizon devices come unlocked so there's really no upside for me. It's good that it doesn't bother you though. I prefer to vote with my wallet and buy the one that'll get updated faster.

Don't get me wrong... I definitely want my updates. My unlocked had been getting updated a week or 2 after the carriers, so that's acceptable for me.

I'm with Jaycemiskel. The so called bloatware and the Verizon logo at startup are not an issue. So far, Verizon's been doing pretty good.

What is curious is that the unlocked versions are getting updates slower. The carriers receive the updates from Samsung for testing before sending via OTA. You would think that Samsung would update the unlocked phones when it sends the update to the carriers.
