Well, one of the things I was looking forward to when switching from the iphone to android, was that I no longer had to use the piece of Shiet iTunes.

Havent really messed around with my phone lately, and literally just finished updating kies etc. (only used keis once when I first got my phone)

Started it up and WTF???? Total RIP OFF OF iTUNES. Even with a word that boils my blood most...."SYNCH"

I've only screwed around with this for a few min, because I quit it and wanted to post about my frustrations. Complete BS.

I may be speaking too soon because I havent checked it out yet but:

Anyone know of any other custom apps out there that is nice and clean which can do everything that kies can do?

(I havent even checked around this forum to see if others have the same complaints, but hey! this TELUS forum needs more threads anyways

Well, 5 min later after trying to backup contacts, photos and videos (then tried each independantly) and WOW this software works MINT.

So mint that all i get is an unexpected error everytime I try to do anything. Lol bull****.

I will try to come up with either more knowledge about this crapware, or another solution and report back.

(doesnt help that im extremely cranky today...sorry folks)

No worries man. Kies is a hit or miss app, either works well after its slow start or just piss you off the whole time you are using it.

To make you feel any better, I am actually restoring my fascinate after a failed flash of the Bionix rom.

Yah, I screwed around with the app a little more today and no luck using the backup tab. I was able to transfer pics/videos through Kies, but not contacts.

Anyone know where contacts are stored in phone so I can just manually copy to PC?

PS - Ronin - eeks, I've never had to restore yet. fingers crossed.

Are you using Kies 2.0?

You can copy to PC or PC to phone. Samsung support isn't the greatest and only a few reps know what they're talking about but the software build and built in apps are poor. HTC Desire is much better but the screen, speaker and lack of a PC based apps had me try this. As phone the Fascinate is better if you can manage without voice dialing which really sucks big time. Bluetooth is so so some devices won't work with it.
