I read something in one of the threads here about the devs for cm7 approving something to start an official cyanogen for the OV. Anyone else see anything about this or am I just hopelessly wishing?

Re: Official cyanogen7???

What you saw was a mention of how the devs for the ath3nos and inferiorhumanorgans repos at github have put in a request to have the official CyanogenMod branch include the specs for the Optimus V. This does not mean an official port/release for the OV is coming, but it is a step in the right direction.

Thank ath3nos and blarf for getting the ball rolling!

Yeah that would definitely be awesome. I love the cm7 roms here, but as of right now there's just too many bugs for them to be enjoyable, but there's not enough performance from any of the 2.2 roms that I've tried to not run cm7. And honestly, this phone SUCKS until you rom it, lol.

The only bugs left in the CM7 roms for the OV that I know of are:

1- camera:
aospCMod you have a choice of zoom or focus working but not both
ath3nos you have both functions, but zooming at 2x or 4x gives you a green strip on one edge of the pic

2- sound:
aospCMod you have issues with headsets (both wired and bluetooth), and with custom ringtones
ath3nos you have some bluetooth issues, wired headsets work but may require a volume change while using to keep working

Those are the two issue categories that affect most people. Most other issues that have been posted can be attributed to improper flashing, too high of an overclock, or there is a simple workaround.

The CyanogenMod team likes to have pretty much all the bugs worked out before an official release.

I have a problem with ringtones too. They're too quiet, and I can't hear them if the phone's in my pocket. Ringtones are loud as hell on my wife's intercept. I read somewhere that there is/was a problem with it ringing through the ear speaker, not the back speaker. Don't know if that's the issue, but either way I don't like it. I'm gonna try aosp again and see what happens, but I haven't had good luck with it recently.
