Can anyone recommend a good screen protector for G2?

Mod Edit 10/14: This will now be the official screen protector thread until you guys get accessory and ROMs/Hacks sections.

I recommend Pathom skinz but your phone is probably too new for most screen protector manufacture to have one out for you model phone.

The tmobile ones are nice, expensive, but nice. Your store will probably have them already too.

I use Panthom Skinz also - and love it - no rainbow effect like my old Body Guardz and not to much oragne peel like Invisiheild - also slightly thinner than both.

I only use a screen protector to help eliminate finger prints - not so much to protect the screen - luckily for me it barely hurts the clarity on my amoled screen.

Mines got the T-Mobile protector on as of late last night and I'm diggin it. Moreso for fingerprints as well. Comes in a 2 pack

Zagg

is this by any chance the g2 that is on sale in america

ZAGG | invisibleSHIELD | HTC T-Mobile Google G2 Cases, Screen Protectors, Covers, Shields, Skins, Invisible Shield

I've used Zagg on a few devices, no problems- ZAGG | invisibleSHIELD | iPhone, iPod Cases, Screen Protectors, Covers, Shields, Skins, Invisible Shield

Be aware the G2 currently listed on their site is the European G2 Touch, NOT our model. Hopefully they will release one soon. But what I really need is an Otterbox....

Mine also has the T-Mobile anti-smear screen protector. Works great no fingerprints.

Are these matte finish? My friend has some anti-smear screen protector on his Droid X, and I think it makes the screen look dull.

I am a screen protector fanatic, and am very very picky about the screen protector I use.

Protectors I've tried on my G1 and other devices and how i would rate them:

Martin Fields: 8/10, very clear, but not quite smooth enough to the touch

Anti Glare (i've tried a few different brands): 5/10 smooth to the touch but distorts screen, makes everything look all pixelated

Zaggs Invisible Shields: 3/10 absolutely the worst, tacky feeling, hard to slide your finger over, clarity was fine though

T-mobile anti-smear: 7/10 I thought these would be awful but i have one on my g2 right now, its very smooth to the touch, but it does pixelate the screen somewhat, but its not bad

Phantom Skinz: Just ordered one, got it for 8$ shipped (20% off coupon code on the net just search for it) haven't received it yet but I have high hopes, I've heard great things

hope this helps a little

I had a full-body Phantom Skinz cover on my BlackBerry Tour.

The screen protector seemed very durable, but it caused a rainbow effect. They sent me some free replacements in case is was a defect in that particular screen protector, but the same thing happened with the new one. Last I read on the Crackberry forums, a lot of people were getting the rainbowing, and the company was trying to determine if it was a manufacturing problem.

The rest of the skin looked great. I didn't get any lint buildup on the edges of the skin like with Invisible Shield (applied previously on an iPod). I never really got used to feeling the edges, however, and ended up removing all of the skin except for on the back cover.

The best screen protector I had actually came free with a cheap TPU case on eBay. It was one of those stiff ones that has a clear film on both sides. Super-easy install, and perfectly clear. I'm still trying to find the equivalent for the G2.

I don't use screen protectors, they make the screen look and feel weird... for devices such as a BlackBerry, it doesn't really matter just because it isn't a touchscreen device...

Sent from my T-Mobile G2

Called Seidio CS and asked if any accessories for the G2 are available.. rep informed me that not at the moment, not in the works but needs public input. so please.. if you are interested in Seidio accessories shoot them a quick email.

i don't own any screen protector yet, but these are my impressions from research and from examining my friends' phones

let's get one thing straight. none of these dental dam style protectors are going to save a phone from damage dropping it on concrete; even a 12" drop. Especially these nice heavy and fragile smartphones that we have. we need some realistic expectations here.

the purpose is to protect against keys, coins in pocket, dirty dashboards/glove compartments or tables that we like to store our phone. Maybe a fingernail stab when using the touchscreen. maybe setting it down on the curb/floor to play ball.

all these protectors might be 1 time use. in the videos they look pretty jacked up after they are 'punished'. of course they are immediately peeled off before showing you the phone spared of damage (without showing the dead protector)

Zagg -
Thickest w/ self healing, highest level of protection for these film type protectors (they take a dremel to it and i bet it isnt self healing from that), best grip, attracts pocket lint, probably good warranty and customer service due to
Most expensive, heard it can peel off at the edges, yellows over time, rubbery feeling not optimal for touch screens, orange peel effect (early versions)

PhantomSkinz -
Easiest to install, thin (like a condom), silky feels great for touchscreens, most invisible/best looking, minimal protection**, average warranty (it's handled by a 3rd party)
One time use protection/not self healing (once damaged, it's done - should protect the phone for the first 'incident')

StealthGuards -
Free right now, i heard it's like phantom skinz but thicker (so maybe like polyurethanes lol).
Probably no customer service, no frills, no fancy box, attracts oils/prints

i personally ordered the stealthguards to try it. i have minimal expectations.

Nobody expects a screen protector to protect against a drop. That's what a case is for.

I personally don't like any of the ones you mentioned better than bodyguardz (or seidio). I'm not a fan of wet apply films like that anymore.
