Google is busy right now presenting the newest Android OS Jelly Bean to the masses. While all of us wait for the old news to arrive....how exciting...can't wait for the Jelly Bean release on the Droid Razr Maxx Plus HD Maxx

Just thinking this. By the time I get ICS on my Motorola flagship freaking phone, my "new" OS will be obsolete in a week. WTF! I got this thing (Original Razr not Maxx) the day before they were released in stores because I was led to beleive how soon ICS would be coming to it.

Google did anounce today that Jelly Bean would be released on the new Google Nexas 7 tablet in a few days.

Don't take this the wrong way bro, but you seem to be posting all negative comments. We all want the latest/greatest OS, but is there something else bugging you about the Maxx and/or Verizon? I don't know if this is your first Android device, but if it's not then you should be used to this. This is how it works with Android (right now). Hopefully in the future as Android grows even stronger, Google will have more weight with the carriers, and be able to dictate certain features and when updates are release. You know, kind of like Apple does.

Go back and find the post on the main page regarding Cyanogenmod coming out with their ICS build. I think it says something about how many changes were made in ICS and how difficult it has been for all of the manufacturers to integrate. Although they may have had nightly builds, the fact that it took them this long to come out with the official version should help explain why it has taken the manufacturers so long

Heck, just a few weeks ago, only 7% of all devices had ICS, and it can not be much more than that now.

It is not we are the last to the party or anything, so there really should be no need for the disappointment about not having ICS yet.

However, I did find it pretty surprising that they would announce JB. Then again, it is not surprising. They are releasing one new O/S each year. The fact that it takes all of the manufacturers so much time to put it on their phones, should be a hint to the manufacturers to try and keep it as clean as possible, so that it will not take as much time to get the upgrades out, but we know that will not happen....lol

Yes, Im negative its because Im frustrated. I owned the original Samsung Galaxy S and I didn't receive the latest update on that til 4 months after my sister received it on hers. I love Android everything about it but everything surrounding the release of ICS seriously worries me. I apologize but cant stand being lied to, mislead, and just confused.

Call the whaaambulance!

Google delivers. If you are upset about not getting Google's latest OS, take that with whoever sold you your device.

If you desperately want the latest Android NOW, get a Nexus device.

I find it amazing how people don't blame google. They should be harder on the carriers & take more control of updates.

Kind of hard to take it out on Google. Android is open source. They allow companies (and people) to take their software and make changes to it. As a result, once Google deploys a new version, they release it as is. Then, the manufacturers need to take that code, and use the open source aspect to make the changes necessary, as they see fit.

If those companies have made so many changes that it takes them months to be able to release it, it is not Google's fault.

If Google wants to take more control, then maybe they could offer up their own device that will get the updates. Oh yeah, they do. It is called Nexus. If you want that experience, then go with a Nexus. If you choose to purchase a phone from a different manufacturer, then accept the fact that there will be delays.......

One of the reasons for delayed updates has been that manufacturers AND carriers have to both test and approve the update. How many of those who complain about updates bought an unlocked phone directly from the manufacturer?

I say US customers brought this upon themselves.

I'm actually surprised that we will be getting ICS before VZW releases the SG3. I thought for sure they would wait a couple weeks after it's release before letting the Maxx get ICS.

Google may own Motorola, but it said it is taking a very hands off approach.

While I can sympathize with those who don't have the latest/greatest, in the end it comes down to basic economics--choice. You chose a device that was "skinned" by the manufacturer and placed on one of the...heavier handed carriers. For what...2 years now...it is well known that the Nexus devices get major "updates" first (the Verizon update snafu/craziness aside) and that the new operating system usually debuts with the Nexus.

Here, that debut is with the Nexus 7. Previously, the Galaxy Nexus.

Meanwhile, phones that do not run stock Android and phones that are not a part of the "Nexus" program lag behind--fairly or unfairly. But this is known; it's not a secret. If you covet having the latest greatest OS first, then why not purchase a Nexus? This is standard protocol for them, so saying that the choice of a Nexus in this regard is irrational would be misplaced IMHO. Instead, people chose different phones for different reasons, and such is life. Now it's a waiting game.

In the end, I'm sure the MAXX will get JB eventually. But until then, you folks have an awesome device with great radios, a great battery, and great build quality. You're not necessarily losing out just yet ;).

Is Google the new Microsoft by upgrades to their android system every year. It seems we just received ice cream sandwich and boom next month jelly bean will be out, To the consumer it make no sense with these tactics.correct me if I'm wrong. We just start to become accustomed to a new system they go and introduce a newer one before we have adjusted to the current one. It also clever to come out with a new name completely because of they used Froyo 1,2,3,4 We might catch one to quickly. I'm very much into new and better technology but this is set up like a cat and mouse game the consumer will never benefit. People are just getting ICS. I know this increases revenue but come on this it totally ridiculous. Just sayin....:D

...correct me if I'm wrong...

If I understand you correctly, you're upset because Google is releasing an updated version of Android. If Google would wait for three years for every carrier/manufacturer to catch up with updates, you would probably be fine.

You know what, if you aren't married yet, don't do it. You'd be shocked to see the new and updated version of spouses that come out each year...
