OK Google voice search?

I am trying to set up Ok Google voice search. I get to the screen where you train the phone to your voice, it says say "Ok Google" three times. It never hears me. Why? what do I need to turn on for this to work? Its as if the mic is turned off.

Phone calls work fine so the mic is not defective.

Any help would be appreciated.
