OK I'll admit it, the G5 is a complete fail

I have finally come to terms with it. Yes this phone is a complete fail. Just wait..... In less than 6 months you'll have issues with the removable modules. The contacts or connect points will start to wear and be loose. Damn LG. The G4 was epic until boot loop issues became prevalent. Customer service blows. My V10 is awesome but has gotten no update love of any kind. (Except for one small update post launch) And now the G5...... I don't know anymore. I was an LG fan coming from a G3 originally.... But not so sure now. Sammy is not an option for me. And neither are any unlocked phones as AT&T will not share the volte love with them. Come on manufacturers.... #makesmartphonesgreatagain

Yeah I definitely need a new hobby. Lol. Phones have grown stale and no longer hold my interest like they did in the days of the original droid and moto x. Maybe underwater basket weaving.

I think it's kinda great, and I know I'm in the minority. I think it feels great in the hand. The phone fly's, it's so fast. My battery life is good. And while I'm getting the extra battery and cradle, I can probably count how many times I switched out battery's on my G4 on both hands. For me, it works.

Waiting for hate in 3, 2.....

It is fail. If they don't go back to buttons on the back and smaller bezels, I won't purchase their phones in the future.

Though I don't doubt there could be issues like you mention....it could also be true that it will be fine. I wouldn't say it's a complete fail but it may pay to wait for some

No, I'm with you. I didn't change batteries often on my G4 but I liked having the option in an emergency and the dozen or so times I did it was an absolute savior. It will be the same with this phone, especially as it's free. Throw in the free camera and I love a 5.3" inch screen with a snapdragon 820 for $630 and I still feel it's worth every penny so far.

I don't need (and frankly don't want) any of the modules to feel like I got a great phone.

I love how people that don't even have the phone call it a fail. This phone completely blows my old g4 out of the water in performance and thats without even getting remotely warm unlike the G4. The v10 was definitely a step up from the G4 (I had them both) but it was heavy and the AOD at the top made the form factor so much taller than it needed to be. I'm not saying the phone is perfect but it performs MUCH better than its predecessors.

Phone is fine for me. It let's me watch youtube, netflix, hulu, makes calls and texts. All this with decent battery life that can be swapped out at a moments notice. Im Good. Is it the best phone ever made, no but it does what I need it to do.

In my opinion, comparing it to its predecessors misses the point. You should be comparing it to its competitors, and I don't think it stacks up to the G7e or the HTC10.

I guess if I was interested in those phones then your point would be logical. Using your logic I should be using the iPhone because most tech sites say it's better and offers more. Best part of being an adult is making my own decisions and being happy with them regardless of what all the haters or fanboys think. I make my own money, I spend my own money and I buy the things I want. The best part about that is if I decide I don't like it or want something different in a couple months I'll get rid of the g5 and get that, because I can.

I'm not saying you can't have your own preferences and point of references. I'm all for voting with your wallet, and I think most people coming to this site know enough to make informed decisions (I don't think that can be said of anyone buying smartphones). But somehow in your previous post it feels like you are trying to rationalize/justify your purchase of the G5, and I don't quite agree with your rationalization. But then again, I don't think you need to justify your purchase - you being happy about it is good enough a reason.

I'll bite:

GS7E = $780
G5 = $630

I didn't think .2", water resistance and wireless charging were worth $150.

I'll hold off on the HTC because I haven't used it yet.

That's a fair point, I did not consider price. But I don't think that those are the only relevant differences between the two devices.

The whole "module" thing is a big waste unless third party developers create modules to use. LG will not be creating any more beyond the DAC, and the camera thingy.

Nope wasn't trying to justify it at all, I wanted the phone because it interested me however the phone runs far better than the 2 previous and that makes a happy customer. On the other hand if the phone failed to live up to what I was looking for I would have possibly considered something different. I'm eagerly awaiting the Note 6 and v11or v20 or whatever they decide to call it.

The best part about the whole module thing is the battery. I could care less if I ever put a module on it but if the time come that I need a second battery I can surely put one in.

The non edge is $120 cheaper and that's closer to the g5. So the price isn't a competitor point. And the gs7 is still waterproof and had wireless charging.

The GS7 doesn't have a removable battery or USB C. It all depends on what works for you.

Isn't that what people do a lot of times before they purchase something, rationalize or justify it? You kind of hope those reasons hold up after the purchase.

I just went with faster than what I have, removable battery , maybe modules I will use, funky camera setup and me finding the GS7 boring.
