I've spent the last couple of hours looking here, and I sort of see some answers but nothing definitive. My DX is currently on 2.3.15.MB810.Verizon.en.US . The phone tells me it wants to update to 2.3.340, so I try that. It fails every time. I am not really sure I want to try an SBF. I am rooted using Z4. Not much beyond that. The only reason I rooted was to run the WAP and SeePU. Advice?

did you remove any bloat apps verizon put on the phone? how about roms? did you put one on?

What error messages, if any, do you get?

Do you have clockwork mod recovery installed? If you do, then you can just flash the maderstcok zip file:

RoOoLeR's Guide ROOT / UNROOT / BACKUP / ROM / SBF / OVERCLOCK

Instructions are in post #3, if you don't have CWM recovery installed, then you probably need to flash with RSD Lite and the sbf, also post #3.

By the way, if you have CWM recovery installed, that is probably the reason why the OTA update is failing, so just flash the maderstcok zip file after wiping data and cache from CWM recovery. If you don't wipe data and cache before flashing maderstcok zip, you will end up in boot loops after the flash and you will have to boot into stock recovery and wipe data and cache via the Factory Data Reset option any way.

yea if your phone is rooted, usually it wont update, and definitively wont update if you are running a custom rom or have removed any bloatware... you need to go back to stock and then update, then reroot... use method posted above
