Old messages inbound, voicemail notification

Twice in the last two weeks my watch lit up with old messages landing as well as a non stop voicemail notification (I had zero voicemails). Currently I have a voicemail notification that won't clear. I use Google messages and disabled notifications from the Samsung messaging app, as I think these old inbound ones are being pushed from the Samsung app. Anyone else have these issues? The last time I had to do a factory reset to get vm notification to go away. I have the TMobile lte watch.
