With many of us losing our Premier upgrade come April 1st, will signing up for the BB pre-order qualify as using the upgrade before the deadline?

Although i hope otherwise, I'm assuming no, because the actual sale/upgrade takes place when the phone is available not when you pre-order.

Any ideas ?

* Edit - Looks like the Sprint pre-order is avail now too, I will go into Sprint and ask today .....

No dice, store manager said the pre-sale signup will not preserve the upgrade after March 31st.
Looks like im buying a phone on the 31st then exchanging it on Nexus s 4G release day, as long as its within 30 days.

Great, looks like im going to be doing the same. Is there any release date on this?

Does anyone know if for certain Sprint is rolling back upgrade eligibility due to the Premier program changes?

all i know is if your a silver customer and sitting on a yearly upgrade you will loose it on april 1st. i called sprint and it was confirmed last night. so unless the nexus is available by or on april 1st alot of us are screwed. im going to wait until later today to see if they give a release date. if not ill buy the arrive wp7 and either return it within the 30 days or just sell it full price and pick up the nexus.

Supposing one wishes to keep their yearly upgrade by upping their plan to the gold level, how long does their plan have to be at that level before they can take advantage of the upgrade? I think I heard three months somewhere, but can't remember where.

It is three months. It is on the sprint premier website.

Just chatted with Sprint online, here's what I was told:

10:13:45 AM : Roger Ch: You can gain 30 days by upgrading to another phone and later you will have 30 days to exchange with a different model.
10:14:18 AM : me: do you know when the Nexus S will be released?
10:14:42 AM : Roger Ch: Let me check that for you.
10:17:22 AM : Roger Ch: We have some details here.
10:17:32 AM : Roger Ch: It might be useful for you.
10:19:32 AM : Roger Ch: You can Pre Order the Nexus at any sprint Store.
10:20:57 AM : Roger Ch: They will pre register the phone for you for a $50 Sprint Gift card as a deposit. This will be adjusted at the time of purchasing.
10:21:11 AM : me: oh, so this would count for my upgrade?
10:22:22 AM : Roger Ch: The store will make this arrangement, as the phone is on pre registration.
10:22:37 AM : Roger Ch: Please contact them before April 1st.

I'm going to try this today or tomorrow, will see what happens.

Can someone tell me what this premier customer dealio is that's going on? I've been with sprint for over 10 years. When i send a text to 1311 with "upgrade" in it, i get a msg stating "8/01/11 SAVE $150 with a two year contract or $75 with 1 year"

So, does this mean i'm no longer going to get the 150 off?

Thanks for clarifying in advance. :)

you get the upgrade. also when i spoke to a rep. he told me that if you are being moved to the silver premier plan and were eligible for an upgrade prior to 12/31/10, you will keep your upgrade. if you were eligible for upgrade after that date, you will lose your upgrade.

So many conflicting reports. I posted in another thread about this and I was told on the phone from Sprint Cust Service that I lose my upgrade come April 1st, even though I was eligible back on Dec 1, 2010. I was then explained by the "supervisor" about their "Buy Out" program where effectively you just pay the pro-rated ETF upfront and then you get your upgrade. For example, I have 6 mos left in my contract so I will pay the $60 ETF plus the $199 for the phone. I really wish there was some official concrete info from Sprint on this matter.

I tried already, sales agent said no, then i got the Sprint Corp store manager and he also said no.
Unless they ring up the full sale before April 1st, which they cant do without the phone, you will lose the upgrade.

With 10yrs+ with Sprint you are a Premier Gold, you get annual upgrade on the primary line.

I spoke to a rep last night in retentions, as it seems like that is the only place to get a straight answer from anyone. Anyway, as of 12/1/10, I was eligible for a premier upgrade. The rep told me the upgrade will still be there after 4/1/11, they won't take it away just because they're doing the tiered thing with premier. I can see going fwd, which will suck, taking it away, although there should be a way to get grandfathered in. But if you are already eligible for an upgrade, to take it away would only cause problems for Sprint. Seems like everyone is getting a different answer and for all of our sake, I hope this guy was right.

Unless I can get that ^^^ in writing by someone at Sprint I am buying a phone on Thursday with the hopes the Nexus comes out in 30.
If it doesn't come out in 30, i hope the above is true and i will deal with that then.

The rep said he noted what he told me in my account, so whatever that means. So, if you get a phone tomorrow, swap that out in 20 days, wouldn't that buy you another 30 days to test out that 2nd phone? Hopefully the S would be out before that.

What about dropping my plan back down after my upgrade and then bumping it up again 3 months before the next Evo comes out? :p Anybody think this would work? As my plan stands now, $40 more per month equates to $480 more per year, in which case I might as well just buy a phone outright.

You may exchange an item only once during the initial 30-day period. An exchange does not extend the 30-day period.
