Older vs Replacement Moto X

Hi guys.

The back of my Moto X from Dec 2013 came off so Motorola decided to replace my phone with a new replacement phone (customized, like the original).

Now that I've activated it - and made sure EVERYTHING is exactly the same on both phones, including updating the Profile/PRL and making sure they're running the same OS version, I'm noticing TWO major differences: (see attached photos)

1. Signal strength on the old Moto X is consistently between -83 to - 86 dBm 1 asu vs new Moto X is -102 to -1115 dBm asu 27-40

2. The TOP of the screen on the new Moto X seems blurry. I have downloaded, for example, the same exact version of Facebook on both phones. On the old phone, it's bright and crisp, whereas on the new phone, it's blurry and fuzzy.

And these two obvious differences are right out of the box...

Help, please?

very odd with the screen shots...if it was a hardware issue, a screenshot wouldn't capture it. try a factory reset

What about signal strengths? And, it's fresh out of the box, why would the screen show lower resolution?

It does, when I've just set up all my apps/emails actually. Must be some other option.

Looks like MSAA. As for signal there not on the same setting so that is not really equal.

Multisample anti-aliasing (MSAA) is a type of anti-aliasing, a technique used in computer graphics to improve image quality. By making the edges look fuzzy to "soften" the pixels.

It is under the Dev menu. Can't understand why the app would use it on one phone but not the other.

You can't you can only force it ON afaik. Best option is a reset. So i guess your going to have to accept it.

I see it under Dev options. It's definitely not on. Why would this brand new phone have that?

That is just the force ON. Apps can turn it on without that setting checked. Mostly just games use it. But a glitch could be within the apps restored data.

Difference #1 might have something to do with the fact that the "Mobile network type" between the two devices is different (LTE vs. CDMA - EvDo rev. A). See if you can get them to be on the same network then see if the signal strength is still significantly different.

I noticed that, too but I have no idea how to get them to be the same. The usual mobile network toggling did nothing. Ideas?

ETA: I changed the mobile network to automatic. Mobile network type changed to CDMA-eHRPD and signal strength is now -87 dBm 2 asu. Do I leave it on automatic vs back to 4G/CDMA?
