I have an LG Volt (yeah, I know, but I could afford it) running KitKat 4.4. I've recently downloaded an app from the Google Play Store (Skype) to use as an IM with a friend in FL. But, nowhere in the settings does it allow me to set it to start automatically when I restart my phone. If this were the old Win, I'd put it in the "startup" folder and that would be that. I can't find *anything* similar in Android. And I've searched, and I've searched... What the heck do I need to get this to run on startup? (I usually have the opposite problem!!!) Thanks!

I could be wrong...but I think it already does! As long as you have SIGN IN AUTOMATICALLY selected and you don't manually sign out of the app, it's always running and ready to receive calls. At least I do get them and have rebooted my phone numerous times. But on my tablet I do sign out manually so I don't get them there.

I think Spook is right: similar to Hangouts, as long as you stay signed in, you should always be getting messages.

Yes I believe he is correct too. I have Skype on a Samsung but still the same KK os. it continues in the background after you have used the "sign in auto" tick box. Untick that and it will not run/connect.
