Have an HTC one unlocked purchased in Asia. Received the 4.2.2 update but not received 4.3

What is going on? Does ip address location have anything to do with getting a 4.3 update?

The update may not have been released in your area yet. Did you try checking for it through the update settings? Is your carrier an official carrier of the phone? If your carrier doesn't actually sell the phone then they might not get the update..

I would think the update is pushed out regionally and may correspond with location, which may be determined either by the IP, as suggested in your post, or via the SIM. Here is the announcement of the Taiwanese 4.3 update rolling out: Taiwanese HTC One getting Android 4.3 update | Android Central

You can force the update manually if you are able to find the right files specific to your device model.

The phone is not tied to a carrier. Shouldn't i be able to get the update over wifi regardless of the SIM card carrier? Does the phone matter or the IP location when getting an update?

To be honest I'm not sure how that would work. I would assume that if you don't have a carrier that supports the phone, then the phone has no way to see the update. I can be wrong..

i think the update would come from HTC which i assume did the 4.2.2 one
