On my Verizon MS with Lollipop, why am I unable to play movies that I've pinned downloaded from Google Play Movies?

Verizon Lollipop & Downloaded Google Play Movies

I got Lollipop on my M8 today and it seems pretty nice, but for some reason I can no longer play movies that I've pinned (downloaded) from Google Play (using the Play Movies & TV app). Whenever I play it gives me the message "There was a problem while playing [-38]". It works fine if I deleted the pinned/cached copy and it works when I stream it using the youtube app. Any idea what's wrong? I've tried deleting the cached copy and redownloading to no avail.

I need help or I'm going to use a lot of bandwidth replaying Frozen over and over!

I am able to duplicate, with Frozen and with other movie files.

I tried these steps but had no resolution:
1. Tried both HD and SD quality files, both errored
2. Uninstalled all Play Movies updates, errored
3. Cleared application cache, errored
4. Cleared cache partition, rebooted, errored

It may be related to the latest Google Play Services update, as I also noticed an issue with syncing Google account data.

I am doing more research and will reply back again later.

While I am thinking of it, Google and Disney have a new partnership, so you may be able to download and view Frozen with the "Disney Movies Anywhere" app. You'll have to set up a Disney account if you don't already have one and link it to you Google account. I got Frozen in Google Play via registering my disk with Disney and linking the accounts. Not sure if it will work in the reverse, but is worth a try.

Google serch of our error is not producing many results, yet, so I wanted to share this possible alternate solution for you.

Same issue. Upgraded to lollipop last night and can't watch streaming or downloaded movies and tv show with Google Movies or Disney Movies. Bummer!

Same here. Also hearing Flixter has the same issue.
