On my LG Optimus, I recently rooted and installed the Reborn ROM and found that the power button no longer puts the phone to sleep. So, I used a old stock recovery and found that the power button worked again.

Then, I installed Picastick's simple OC kernel and restored my apps from Titanium Backup and no the power button no longer puts the phone to sleep....again.

Any body know of how to fix this issue?

Sounds like you could possibly have a hardware issue. Are you able to bring up the power menu by long pressing the power button?

Yes, I'm able to bring up the Power Menu by holding down the power button. And, flashing back to the stock rom gives me back that functionality.

So, I know it's not a hardware issue. But, I'm not quite sure what it is. Hmmmm....I'll try to conduct a few more tests while I'm at it.

Btw, I noticed that on the Reborn ROM, the hardware keys on the front of the phone no longer wakes it from sleep. Is this just a function of the ROM and can't be undone?

In the mean time, I would use a lockscreen widget (maybe then you could see if it will actually go to sleep) or something until the issue is resolved. under the gingerrom thread there is a zip that fixes whether all four face buttons turn on the screen or just the power button (not sure though if that only works with that rom though). also, before you flashed back to stock rom/rec did you factory reset the phone? if not there might have been something still left from stock trying to run along side reborn, but i'm not sure.

do you have app called "Spare Parts" on your phone? Or something like that? Any apps that say that are "extra settings" taken from the android sdk? I had an app called spare parts that affected my power button when I altered what it said was the call end button.

Looks like I found the problem. I restored some system settings from Titanium backup that must not have been compatible with the rom and lost the function of the power button. So, I wiped the rom. I restored just the apps and their associated data and did not restore the system data to fix the problem.

Hmph. Weird how that happened.

I think this the hardware does not support the Robert ROM. Do you have any application like Spare Parts in your phone because it affects the power button of the phone?
