On The Fence - LG G3 or Note 4

Also the aux issue: do you mean Bluetooth? Mine works fine in my 2012 traverse.

There does seem to be some app issues but it's not been a real inconvenience and most will be resolved I think in the near future

Regarding AUX cord connection issues:
OK, I want to respond to this directly, as I have had some experience. I returned my first G3 because of this issue thinking it was a defective unit. Second one performed exactly the same way- the problem was not different in the lease. So it is an issue. And it's widely-documented now.
However, it's a complex issue and so people are going to have different takes on this.
This issue is ONLY related to use of audio cords connecting to an amp/stereo (AUX IN) via the headphone out jack of the G3.
The G3 tries to "sense" whether the audio out cord is actually connected to an audio amp input before it will actually connect the G3 internally.
If you have an amp/stereo that ALSO is designed to "sense" a load on the input of the amp before it will operate, THAT'S when you have an issue.
Essentially both devices are trying to get a handshake to happen but it's tricky. If you have an amp that is of this configuration, you'll see repeated attempts to connect to the AUX in of the amp fail. Or maybe you finally get it to connect, and then mysteriously it fails.
There are two other problems that are related here as well.
1. There is a very loud sound that's been described as an "explosion/pop" that occurs when the music player switches between mp3 tracks. this also occurs on third party player apps like Power Amp, so it's not the fault of the stock on-board music player app. It's very loud and highly annoying. sort of like when a guitar amplifier is turned up, and you plug or unplug a guitar. LOUD.
2. If you hook up via the AUX IN, and find a silent passage in the music, or have the G3 on and the stereo on, with the volume up, there's odd noises in the LEFT channel (only). I've described them as "computer talk". Odd sequenced, mainly high-frequency noises. A also discovered that the noises are directly related to any on-screen activity. Whatever the odd background noises are, when you begin scrolling or touching the screen, the pattern of noises will change, directly proportional to your screen activity. As soon as you stop touching the scree, the noises will revert back to a steady-state. this, to me, indicates poor shielding between a left-channel audio signal conductor and a conductor that's part of the display driver circuitry. It's annoying in a brand new top-of-the-line device, but it's not the end of the world- probably unless you are a classical music listener.

Again, this is ALL with AUX cord connection. With headphones or earbuds, everything is fine.

I have found that using a "Noise-Suppression" aux audio cord (available on amazon), with a "thingy" in the middle of the cord. solves the loud POP problem to a great extent. It hooks up consistently, and does not drop connection...which is the most important thing. The POP is still there however. but it's at a MUCH lower volume. For me, it's also now a double-pop, (odd).

Just thought I'd put that out there. It does not seem to be specific to any carrier-branded G3. If you are lucky enough to have an amplifier that does not have this circuitry, it appears you are good to go. (although I bet if you listened for it, you'd still have that odd computer-chatter in the left channel)

Friends, this stands as my first post. I've been teetering on the fence about spending the upgrade plunge and getting the LG G3. However, as I have researched extensively (paralysis by analysis) I find that there are genuine concerns with the device. As there are with most devices I'm sure. The issues I've read are
Lag and stutter (there for some not for others)
Dim lackluster screen (I tend to agree here)
Over heating screen
Average or below battery life
AUX connection issues
Over sharpening of fine text
Incompatible aps from the ap store
And a host of other random varying issues

I really like the build and size of this device and tend to like the UI. This would be a huge upgrade for me indeed. Im trying to hold out until the Note 4 so I can compare but impatience is getting the best of me. Those who own it, do you recommend? Those who returned it, why?

Talk me off the ledge or push me off because I can't seem to decide. Leaning toward holding out for the N4 so I can compare. Thank you for your time and feedback.

I am on my second G3 as I thought the first one was defective...but the second one is the same, so I think perhaps I can reduce any speculation that I experience odd issues because I have a defective unit.
Lag: find very little. Music player will sometimes take many minutes to load all the jpeg thumbnail album art. And you cannot play music until it finishes being a slow-poke. Annoying. Sometimes Craigslist and things like that are slow to scroll.
Screen: find it OK. def not 2X as good as a 1080 screen. Needs, for me, to be at 75-80% brightness. The Auto Brightness seems to be lousy.
battery Life: find it good- definitely acceptable. Usage widely varies depending on a LOT of factors, so YMMV.
AUX Issues: Definitely problematic for some. See post I just made.
Screen text: not so much an issue for me. But I can sort of see what they're talking about.
Apps: Have not run into any probs. At first, amazon mobile app would not load. "Incompatible with this device"...but I think they fixed that pretty quickly. works for me now.
Any other issues for me? The on-board management of LED notifications is pretty stinky and hard to get right. The LEDs blink very slowly. An if email activates and LED first, you will NOT get a notification for a text that comes in after that./ The LED for email stays on.Some have had success with a third-party App Called LightFlow. Personally I thought that seems not so great and have been very happy with the effects of using LightManager. Get LED's all color -coded to various accounts, phone and email and text...and get them all to blink.

The device feels very nice. The UI is clean and effective. The QuickMemo feature gives you a lot of the "writing" capability that the Notes series has; just use your finger instead of a pen. It's quite powerful. Overall I'm very happy with it. Incidentally (!) I should also mention for me the voice and call quality are VERY good.
