Regarding AUX cord connection issues:
OK, I want to respond to this directly, as I have had some experience. I returned my first G3 because of this issue thinking it was a defective unit. Second one performed exactly the same way- the problem was not different in the lease. So it is an issue. And it's widely-documented now.
However, it's a complex issue and so people are going to have different takes on this.
This issue is ONLY related to use of audio cords connecting to an amp/stereo (AUX IN) via the headphone out jack of the G3.
The G3 tries to "sense" whether the audio out cord is actually connected to an audio amp input before it will actually connect the G3 internally.
If you have an amp/stereo that ALSO is designed to "sense" a load on the input of the amp before it will operate, THAT'S when you have an issue.
Essentially both devices are trying to get a handshake to happen but it's tricky. If you have an amp that is of this configuration, you'll see repeated attempts to connect to the AUX in of the amp fail. Or maybe you finally get it to connect, and then mysteriously it fails.
There are two other problems that are related here as well.
1. There is a very loud sound that's been described as an "explosion/pop" that occurs when the music player switches between mp3 tracks. this also occurs on third party player apps like Power Amp, so it's not the fault of the stock on-board music player app. It's very loud and highly annoying. sort of like when a guitar amplifier is turned up, and you plug or unplug a guitar. LOUD.
2. If you hook up via the AUX IN, and find a silent passage in the music, or have the G3 on and the stereo on, with the volume up, there's odd noises in the LEFT channel (only). I've described them as "computer talk". Odd sequenced, mainly high-frequency noises. A also discovered that the noises are directly related to any on-screen activity. Whatever the odd background noises are, when you begin scrolling or touching the screen, the pattern of noises will change, directly proportional to your screen activity. As soon as you stop touching the scree, the noises will revert back to a steady-state. this, to me, indicates poor shielding between a left-channel audio signal conductor and a conductor that's part of the display driver circuitry. It's annoying in a brand new top-of-the-line device, but it's not the end of the world- probably unless you are a classical music listener.
Again, this is ALL with AUX cord connection. With headphones or earbuds, everything is fine.
I have found that using a "Noise-Suppression" aux audio cord (available on amazon), with a "thingy" in the middle of the cord. solves the loud POP problem to a great extent. It hooks up consistently, and does not drop connection...which is the most important thing. The POP is still there however. but it's at a MUCH lower volume. For me, it's also now a double-pop, (odd).
Just thought I'd put that out there. It does not seem to be specific to any carrier-branded G3. If you are lucky enough to have an amplifier that does not have this circuitry, it appears you are good to go. (although I bet if you listened for it, you'd still have that odd computer-chatter in the left channel)
