On the GS6. What's more of a deal breaker for you, no removable battery or no SD card?

Both non-removable battery and lack of SD card slot are extremely un-appealing to me... but the SD card is the absolute deal breaker.

I'm a Galaxy Note user (had the 2, 3, and now the 4), and I will be upset if the Note 5 comes out with these LACK of options.

I really don't understand at all why they went this route with the S6. No SD card slot is a COMPLETE FAIL imo... especially on a 32gb phone!!!!

I liked it on the Note Edge, though it may be impractical in practice.

Phone on table/desk, a ticker tape of your texts and emails, and news, sports results, device info etc depending on your privacy requirements at the time.
Note does more or less than that at present, but it's a good idea.

I will let the poster respond.

Guess I don't get out enough I noticed a Edge at Best Buy but didn't know it was a Note.
I played with it.
didn't understand what the advantage is.
You press the app and open what is on the edge. Or play with the stuff on the edge of the glass.
Seen not one of the Samsung reps with a Edge at any of the stores I went to.

Man I hope those rumored prices are wrong, that's way too expensive... especially the 128GB version.

Re: Samsung S6

They DID listen to what people wanted. With the exception of the removal back and SD slot, everything else that people have been complaining about they wanted Samsung changed.

Re: Samsung S6

Its tough when people do things. And they have so much money. They don't even understand some of the things that are the most important.
That's why you see companies open their door everyday. And you see people close their doors everyday.
Got people in charge that make bad mistakes and don't learn from it.

I started a business and ran it for 19 yrs. I understand how people just don't think.

Apple has already proven that removable batteries and sd cards won't hurt sales. Samsung is in business to make as much money as it can. Most people don't give a damn about removable batteries and sd cards. The biggest complaint from consumers was always cheap feeling build quality. Samsung has finally addressed that. Even Google has abandoned the replaceable battery and sd card. My droid Ultra (great phone BTW) also has a non removable battery and no sd slot. and that doesn't bother me at all.

Re: Samsung S6

I'm very disappointed in Samsung's decision to omit the SD card slot and seal the battery. Sometimes, part of the fix for a problem involves removing the battery... that won't be possible with the S6. No SD card slot will mean tiered pricing for the S6 based on storage size, and no way to move up if you find you really need more storage.

I personally do not care if the back of my phone is metal, glass, or plastic. It's well covered and well protected by a case.

After reading some threads about the lack of SD Card, there are some pretty upset people.

It's funny, on the iPhone I don't even consider wanting a removable battery or SD card. ...and I've had a "few" iPhones. I think it was just something I'd gotten used to with Samsung phones. I hope the Note line doesn't lose them but If it does it does. I'll cross that bridge....

They arrived in the UK quite late and two Samsung reps in their Experience store didn't know how to change the edge orientation, or anything about settings.

This post from an owner who later switched, but liked it, gives a good indication:

Whatever you say. Lol. The facts are there. Show me one link, quote, post or press release that states Samsung will not update or support the note edge at the same rate as the Note 4.

You can't, because there are none. Go ahead and Google Android L Update for note edge. You haters act like the edge screen is some alien technology that was plopped in samsungs lap. Lmao. It is software. That's it. The phone can recieve and process any Ota that Samsung pushed to the note 4. They never, ever have to update the edge panels software if they choose not to. I have already seen the build of android L on the note edge and guess what, samsung did a great job of including new features to the edge panel in the Android 5.0.2 update.

I'm not going to argue about this any more because I am a man of fact, not speculation. I research and I read EVERYTHING before I make a decision to buy a new phone. As I said back up your statements of they won't update it as fast.

And as far as a gimmick, I promise you I can do things faster on my edge than on a note 4. Hands down. I don't need to worry about when I'm in my car navigating with Google maps and a call comes in and there goes my map because I have a call screen or pop up coming in, nope it just goes to the edge panel. Watching a movie and get a call or text, edge panel. Camera? I get full screen viewfinder. Music, my controls are on the edge so I don't have to open a case or any of that I just swipe my thumb and hit the button. . Even at night just sitting on my nightstand, lol, the phone still has value.....night clock.

Say whatever you want, it's not a gimmick at all. And the extra $100.00, please. If your gonna spend $800.00 on a cell phone, what's $900.00. Lmao.

Unreal

My concern with quick-charging wearing out the battery faster still stands.

With Samsung claiming 4 hours of use after 10 minutes of charging and Qualcomm claiming 6 hours of use from 15 minutes of charging with Quick Charge 2.0, that sounds impressive. However, if you've seen LinusTechTips's video about quick charging, it will increase battery heat, which will inevitably negatively affect battery lifespan and wear it out much faster.

Given that the S6 has a fixed battery, once that battery wears out, you will have to take it to a store and have it sent in for a battery replacement, unlike previous devices, where all you need to do is hop to a store, get a battery, pay the cashier and pop it into your phone. It is a legit concern, to me at least. My M7 is nearing 2 years old, and already, it's battery is suffering. It used to be able to get 1.5 days of use. Now, it can barely make it through one day. I can't swap the battery as it's sealed right into the chassis. Only thing is to get a new phone, which will be when my contract expires in July.

I will still say what Linus recommends. Only use the fast charger in emergencies when you really need to use your phone afterwards and it's dying. If you're plugging it in for an overnight charge, use a conventional slow 1A charger. You'll increase your battery lifespan for as long as possible that way.

Yes, I know. I followed that bit. He made good sense in explaining his decision, though I can't remember why.
As much sense as a psychologist can make anyhow.:)
Nice guy.

On Edit: Note 4 better suited his work, note taking etc wasn't it.

This is what's known as The Chicago Way - create a product with design "features" that increase the rate you use up the consumable part of the product. Your only fix is to pay for a fix or to buy a new product.

The one concern is that the S6 will eventually need a new battery. If it's such a good phone I'd keep it more than 2 years but would the battery last? I know that you can change the battery on an iPhone (some of them anyway) with some hassle or a visit to the store so maybe Samsung's will be able to be replaced with a visit too? Who knows, too early in the game but maybe all is not lost.

The other factor is the size. Without the replaceable battery and SD card the phone is the same width, thinner, and just a few mm bigger than my GS3 and that's a big deal to me. I don't like big phones at all. This one might just be the perfect phone for me...still waiting for the G4 tho.
