On V20, thinking of getting V30 or Note 8

I have jump on demand with T-mobile and I'm nearing the end of the lease. I love my V20 as the phone, camera, swappable battery, and just about everything is great. Only thing is, I live in an area where water is constantly an issue a good portion of the year so I'm going to be swapping out of the V20. And into something water resistant.

I was thinking Samsung, because I have a samsung gear S3. But is having a samsung phone with the gear actually anymore beneficial than having a V30 with the gear?

Currently the gear does pretty well with my V20 and I don't feel I'm missing out on any functionality between the two.

Put that aside, and than I wonder what I would really be gaining having the note 8 over the V30, other than a useless stylist.

S8+ is out of the question as it lacks the wide camera view & the round edges seem to take up screen real estate, making viewing along the edges almost useless. G6 is out of the question due to its small size and down grade from the V20.

Is the note really going to continue to use the curved edges that takes up screen real estate making the side almost useless like the S8+?
Does anyone know how extreme the V30 curved glass will be? Based on pictures, it looks like V30 rounded edges will not interfere with V30 screen at all.

Any other info or thoughts would be great.
Mainly between V30 and Note 8.

Well no one needs to tell you you're choosing between 2 great phones.

Personally I'm choosing the V30. The Note is a bit too tall for me, the fingerprint sensor is positioned poorly and I really don't like edge displays.

I'm also curious to see how the glass camera sensors preform versus the typical plastic.

My thoughts anyway...

All early reports on review units for v30 say the curve is not extreme. They say it is mild. Ergonomics are good. I have a V20 as well. Have had Notes in the past. I'm personally going for the V30. At roughly $200 cheaper than the Note 8 plus quad-Dac it's a deal

If my only concern was water, I'd rather get a more water resistant case for my V20 than either of those phones. Have you thought about going that route?

Note 8 = variant of S8, costs $930-$1000

V30 = V20 + G6, costs $700-$750

Save that $300 from the Note 8 and buy a pocketable camera with interchangable lens. We forget about REAL cameras nowadays. I have the Lumix GM1 and it's great, portable and shoots lowlight and video.

Most phones are a no for me because they don't have a dedicated Quad DAC. If the V30 didn't have a Quad DAC, I still see would pick the V30 over the Samsung.
In no particular order I prefer the following on the V30:

finger print sensor placement... It sucks on the Note

Camera setup... Love the twin rear camera on the V30 with the wide angle and love some of the new features I'm reading about.

The new AOD and floating screen.

Software... Hate TouchWiz, though I hear it's better.

I'll have to compare both curved screens in person but from what I'm seeing so far the V30 wins.

I'm sure there are other things but those are what I'm focused on and I haven't seen both in person. I'm not saying the V30 is the better phone... I just know what I like.

So have you had water issues with the v20?

Not yet. But than again first moment I see rain I'm hovering over the phone or walking back into the house.

V30 is reported to have 600mhz, as the note is reported to not have it. Think I'll have to wait and go with better reception.

Just pre-ordered my Note 8. As a former Note 7 owner the deal through Samsung Direct too good to pass up. If I don't like the Note 8 I can always sell it. Still get memory card and wireless charger.
