one handed zoom with one ui

Previously with Oreo, you could just slide the shutter button to the side to zoom.
That functionality seems to be gone with the update to pie and one UI. Pity, I loved it!

Is there another way to zoom besides pinch?

With a different camera app - some have zoom setting bars, some don't. Open Camera, for one, does.

Yeah. Sucks they've removed it. I also hate that you now have to switch to video mode instead of having record button beside the shutter like in Oreo.

If you had saved the old app as an apk (which takes a bit of storage after a few years - I have over 1100 of them at the moment), you could always have installed the old one back. (Maybe renaming it in the apk first (in the string res), if they're both named Camera.)
