Hi
Just checked my brothers new htc one and can't send any good video to my iPhone ,I.e hd footage already tried whatsapp and won't allow it but I can send vice versa with no probs what so ever, the only way possible is to use Dropbox or use the mms option that is really low quality.
This is really putting me off as I thought at least now a days this would be child's play for such a great smart phone
Any advice would be great ;)

If you're saying that you can't send something via iMessage, well, yeah that's true.

Hi
Thanks for you replys ,I tried sending by email and it warned that the 10 sec video exceeded the 25 mb limit so that was no good and for not having iMessage that's not a problem to get myself such a beast of a phone , just a bit peeved that whatsapp won't support video as its over 12mb
Cheers

For any larger file you should use a public or semi public Dropbox folder. There is no items age on android and any direct communication will be severely compressed.

We're you able to send a video file over 25mb via iMessage previously? That's a pretty large file to send via SMS.

iMessage isn't SMS. I'm not sure of file size restrictions. iOS devices will compress video and audio on the fly and if something is too large you'll be asked to trim it down.

I load video up to youtube and then just send a link to the video. Just make sure its not available for public search

Dropbox is now baked into yahoo mail, so the file size shouldn't be a problem anymore....at least according to what I've read

So what your telling me is that andriod are now boasting up to 8 cores and are said to be the best but can't send a video to whatsapp or email ! And sending a link is the only way round it ?.. Even though I really want a htc one I think I'll stick with ios as its too much f'ing around

That's not really a phones limitation on Sprint with my iPhone 4 video max was 10seconds, with AT&T with iPhone 5 I have never had limit so

Yes, that is true. In order to send videos greater than 25 mb we will need to wait for the next gen 16 core phones. Might as well stick with your iphone. don't let the door hit you on the way out.

Sending 25mb or more via email or any other direct method is not going to work reliably. This isn't a phone limitation it's more of a protocol limitation.

Thanks for the replys guys well most of them, do you think google will ever bring a service like iMessage to the droid phones?

Actually Apple is finishing up some litigation around iMessage and when they're done they could open up iMessage to other platforms as, I believe, they originally intended. This would be the best of all as interoperability across platforms to get away from the archaic SMS protocol and charging method would rule.

Doesn't sound like apple to open anything up to other platforms.

Google is coming out with something, it's called babel (at least for the time being). You can read up on that

True, but this was supposedly their plan all along. iMessage is based around standard, open protocols and technologies. Their plans to open up the service to other applications was held up when they were sued by some patent trolls over some of the tech.

iMessage is now a differentiator for iOS. The only messaging app remotely close is WhatsApp. Highly doubt Apple will ever make iMessage available across multiple platforms now.

It's pretty janky though and the benefits are almost transparent to the user. There are also some issues where things don't always go through. The network effect would come I to play here too, a larger user base would benefit iMessage users. It's really annoying to try remember what brand device uses have when sending out group messages or media. It would be thousands if times more useful if it worked on all platforms or at least more platforms.

That's always the case. Apple has always done that in an effort to get people to get iPhone's because their friends and family have them and it will be great... Or my wife has an ipod so I keep my iPhone so we can chat...
